Become a TPT Seller: Start Your Own Journey

Teachers Pay Teachers doesn’t have to be daunting. This article will share a bunch of reasons why starting YOUR journey to become a part time TPT seller is a great idea, even if you don’t want to do it full time.

Reason #1: Do It Because You Want To

You don’t need to commit everything to being a TPT seller. I know plenty of teachers who don’t have crazy TPT goals. They just do it to share their resources and bring in a little extra income while they are at it. You could do it, too. Don’t worry about making your first $1million or your first $1000. Make it fun.

When you create a resource and others enjoy it, that is its own reward! If it makes your own life easier, even more so. My TPT journey began as a hobby. My husband noticed I had a propensity for graphic design and encouraged me.

Here was his advice:

“Keep it fun. Do it when you want to. Do the projects you feel like doing. It’ll all work out. Slow is steady, steady is smooth, smooth is fast.”

I am 100% behind this advice!

Reason #2: Become a TPT Seller to Let Your Skills Shine

You have your degree in education, but teachers are so much more than their qualifications. We work just as hard as any other profession, but we are not one-dimensional! Being a teacher is one part teaching, three parts planning and designing. When it comes to designing, we might as well call ourselves the Picasso of worksheets and presentations.

There is not always a worksheet for exactly what you want, so being able to create one is a talent we have probably flexed a time or two. Being a Teachers Pay Teachers seller allows you to create the perfect worksheet for your lesson, and spread it to the teacher community who needs it too.

Reason #3: Broaden Your Horizons

Being a teacher isn’t always the bee’s knees. Between the mental breakdowns and the mind-numbing and mind-blowing number of interactions we have minute to minute with our students, some days we just want to stop. Just stop it all, and say we’re done.

Becoming a TPT seller broadened my horizons in two ways:

First, when I became a TPT seller, I realized that if I REALLY wanted to take my store to be fulltime, I absolutely could!

Secondly, I just had so much fun creating resources, because when I used them in my classroom, it worked! The lesson went THAT much smoother, the students connected with the material THAT much more, and I got through my material THAT much quicker.

Reason #4: Becoming a TPT Seller Makes You Extra Money Passively

There’s a reason this is last. For someone who wants to do this part time, this is the last reason you should begin your TPT seller journey, but it is a nice topping on the cake.

By becoming a TPT seller, you not only get to share your creative talents, you also get to benefit monetarily from it. As a part-time seller, it won’t be much at first, but your efforts will double over on themselves through the years, and your sales will increase.
